The red benches of the Bay
They line the seafront and look out over the water, in the shade of the pines: the red benches of Arcachon Bay. People sit on them for no reason at all, for the falling tide, for an ice cream, to let the afternoon go by.
The profile of this miniature was not invented: it was drawn from the benches themselves, from the continuous curve running from the front of the seat to the crest of the back to the cut of the legs. On one leg, engraved into the material, a single word: Arcachon.
In the pouch
- 15 red slats, every one identical
- 2 white legs, notched rails already fitted
- An illustrated assembly sheet
Assembly
No glue, no screws, no tools. Each slat goes in on edge, into both rails at once, then locks with a quarter turn. Because all fifteen slats are identical, you fit them in any order you like, and the bench comes apart just as easily, with a quarter turn the other way.
